Review: Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry

Synopsis:
"I won't tell anyone, Echo. I promise." Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. "You didn't do that-did you? It was done to you?" No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked.

So wrong for each other...and yet so right.

No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again.

Review:
I'll keep this review short and straight to the point because I have to prepare for my major exams on Thursday til Saturday. It's just that this book caught me off guard with the author's brilliancy which made me felt the need to express my feelings on how hauntingly beautiful I find this book. This book was not what I expected for a contemporary YA. I was skeptical about reading this book because usually books with eye catching covers end up disappointing me. Surprisingly for this book, it kept me engaged from the first few chapters and didn't bore me even once. 2 broken souls brought together in an epic journey of love, forgiveness and acceptance. I forgot the last time when I find the characters' issues more interesting and heartwarming compared to the romance in the plot. Noah's issue of being a foster kid and wanting so badly to have custody over his 2 little brothers broke my heart into pieces. Towards the end, when I learned about how his two brothers were doing and when Noah's feelings were expounded... my heart swelled with so much love.. reading that part made my heart ache in a good way (if ever that's possible) that made me shed tears of awe and admiration for Noah. And then when I was about to flip off Echo for being a drama queen, McGarry managed to squeeze my heart again and made me see how lost Echo felt. I highly recommend this book to every contemporary YA lover!! This is one well-written book that will surely make you appreciate how lucky you are in life. And the best part about the book was that everybody got their happy ending :">

“I love you enough to never make you choose.”  -Echo
